DIGITAL RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
What is it?
Digital Rights and Responsibilities are the freedoms and privileges that internet users must have in order for them to be responsible and achieve high behavior expectations. This type of citizenship includes freedom of speech, privacy, safety... It also includes responsibility and respect from the user because you have to do something in order to receive something in return. Responsibility is about being polite when using the web and rights is about being respected by others around you.
How does it impact me?
This type of citizenship impacts me because people can hack my accounts, credit cards and everything. It impacts me because I use the internet all the time and I put my email everywhere so I have to be very careful when it comes to these things. I have to be very careful when it comes to putting my private stuff online. I also have to respect other people's rights: I can't hack into other people's accounts. Also, when I have school projects, I have to put the sources I used(MLA Bibliography). Plagiarism is something everyone has to avoid because it crosses the limits. Personally, when I work on projects, I respect other people's work and I mention them. I think everyone should do this because it is what Digital Rights and Responsibilities is about.
How to be a good citizen?
A good Digital Rights and Responsibilities citizen is one who respects everyone's privacy and gets other people's respect in return. This works both ways, you have to give something in order to receive what you want. I believe that a good citizen is one who never hacks other people's accounts, treats people publicly and never attacks people's privacy. People, in return, should also give the respect they want to get. I think that this type of citizenship is important because it's the base of everything. Everything evolves around the rights and responsibilities: if people don't treat each other well, then nothing is going to work correctly.
